25th National Strategy Education Program: 1st Overseas Training

The first overseas training sessions were held simultaneously in four different sites Russia, Japan, Vietnam and Singapore, and Mongolia - from May 12 to 18, 2019.

 

The Russian training team had a meaningful experience involving a visit to the KOTRA Vladivostok Trade Center for a lecture on the topic of “Implementation of the New Northern Policy” and a meeting with the Korean Association of Sakhalin to discuss the issues of the forced migration of Koryo-saram.

 

In Japan, the team visited the Okinawa Regional Defense Bureau and were briefed on the introduction of the Defense Bureau and Japan's security policy. They also visited the Friendship Committee of the Mugunghwa Party to examine the facts related to 우호forced mobilization of Koreans and activities to promote peaceful relationship between Korea and Japan.

 

In Vietnam, the team visited Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics to attend lectures on the topics related to the Vietnamese political system. Then the team moved to Singapore and visited construction sites of SsangYong for a lecture on the current status of the “Bedok Development Project.”

 

The Mongolian-Russian team conducted their research under the theme of environmental issues of fine dust, desertification of Mongolia, and pollution of Lake Baikal in Russia. They also visited Green Asia Plantations in Mongolia as well as the Irkutsk City Hall and the Lake Baikal Museum in Russia for briefings and Q&A sessions. Participants especially spent a meaningful time in visiting and planting a tree per an individual at Green Asia Erden Plantation in Mongolia, which aims to contribute to the development of safe and sustainable Earth in response to international environmental problems such as climate change, desertification, dust storms, etc.
